Homebirth Midwifery Services
As licensed midwives, Little Sparrow uses a balance of medical expertise and a trusting relationship with clients to protect physiologic birth.
We specialize in low risk pregnancy and birth, and use clinical data to determine the criteria for safety in the home setting.

There is always a midwife available by phone for medical concerns. We are happy to hear from you and offer support.

Our prenatal visits are one hour long and we follow the standard obstetric schedule for prenatal care. As follows:
-One visit per month until 28 weeks
-One visit every two weeks until 36weeks
-One visit per week until birth
At each visit you can expect us to monitor your vital signs, listen to fetal heart tones, measure fundal height and palpate fetal position. We will draw labs and make ultrasound referrals as needed. A large portion of each visit is spent getting to know one another and providing our clients education and resources.

We are in touch with you as soon as labor begins. We offer phone support during early labor and arrive at your home in active labor. During active labor we monitor the well being of the baby by listening to heart tones. We monitor the birth parent clinically as well as emotionally.
We value freedom of movement, nourishing your body and embracing a calm labor environment.

After the birth, we will keep you medically safe while protecting your first moments with your baby.
We will prioritize skin to skin, bonding and latch. After golden hour, we will perform the newborn exam next to you while you enjoy a postpartum meal.
We will clean up and tuck you into bed before leaving your home. We stay on call through the postpartum period so you will always have access to a midwife with any concerns.

The postpartum period is where midwifery care shines! We offer an inhome visit at 24hours, 3 days and 10 days. We will clinically monitor the birth parent and baby to ensure a safe and peaceful postpartum. We will take vitals of birth parent and baby. We will monitor the growth of the baby and help with the body feeding relationship. We will talk through any postpartum challenges that arise and strategize with you from the comfort of your home.
The final visit is in our office between 5-6weeks where we will complete the newborn hearing screening.
